LEADERS OF EREKITI- LUWOYE COMMUNITY TENDER APOLOGY TO ONDO DGOV, COMMISSIONER OVER LIBELOUS PUBLICATION
The Council of Chiefs and other prominent leaders of Erekiti-Luwoye Community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo have tendered their unconditional apology to the Ondo State Deputy Governor Dr. Olaide Adelami and the Honourable Commissioner For Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the State Alhaji Amidu Takuro over the wrongful allegation of bribery orchestrated by two sons of the ancient community.
A certain online news media has published that the duo was involved in a bribery which was a lie from the abyss.
According to a press statement signed by Chief Gabriel Okunuwa and others which was made available to journalists on 11th September 2024,the Chiefs regretted and distanced themselves from the offensive and libelous publication.
The state read in parts “we regret the inconvenience the libelous publication must have caused to the public reputations of the two reputable top government functionaries”.
It would be recalled that the Ondo State Government has ordered that a public apology should be tendered as a result libelous news against the deputy governor and the commissioner following a news item credited to one Mr.Samson Akinniran and Chief Babatunde Faniyi, published on a certain online news.
In the same vein,the leadership of the community has directed Mr.Akinniran Samson to retract the libelous news from the social media forthwith while the planned protest by various groups in the
area had been called off.
