POPULATION,CLIMATE CHANGE AND POLITICS ARE THE MAJOR CAUSES OF FARMERS AND HERDSMEN CLASHES IN NIGERIA,SAYS NATIONAL PRESIDENT MACBAN
The National President Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria MACBAN,Alhaji (Dr) Baba Usman Ganjarmah PhD,has stated that increase in population,climate change as well as politics are the major factors causing farmers and Fulani herdsmen incessant clashes in Nigeria pointing out that the issues will soon be a thing of the past.
He made the disclosure during the official inauguration and swearing in ceremony of the newly elected Ondo State Chairman of MACBAN Alhaji Mounde and other Executive members of the Association in Akure,the Ondo State Capital,yesterday.
He added that in the years ahead,more modern approach would be adopted with a view to ensuring that herdsmen are able to feed their cattles very well without much problem explaining that any alien methods that are capital intensive might be difficult and strange to the herdsmen.
The National President MACBAN,appreciated His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing Federal Ministry of Livestocks,apart from the fact that the development has solved some of the problems being encountered by herdsmen,it has equally created employments for the people.
He maintained that the herdsmen are not criminals as being reported in the press,stating that they should be portrayed in good manners,because they are contributing greatly to the economy of Nigeria,generate employments and the protein need of the masses.
While congratulating the new Exco of MACBAN in Ondo State,he admonished them to live in peace with the people of the State as well as collaborate with all the security agencies in the State in the area of performing their duties.
Also the former State Chairman Alhaji Garuba Bello was installed as Hadro of the Fulanis in Ondo State by the National President.
